There is one fashion piece that has stayed with me throughout the years: a green wool peacoat. Ever since high school, I would find a version I loved and wear it for many years straight. Part of it was just that I was tired of having a black coat like everyone else. But the other is that there is something about green that just feels elegant and eye-catching. This year was my lucky year. I found the Ted Baker Rosess Coat on sale, in my size, in green! Read my Ted Baker wool coat review, and whether this investment was worth the splurge.

Rosess Wool-Cashmere Wrap Coat: Fabric & Fit
With a retail price of $475, the Rosess Coat is definitely an investment in my books. Luckily, I scored this piece in my size for under $250 due to their special Black Friday sale. Ted Baker refreshes their seasonal colors every year, and I was lucky to buy this green version.
- Fabric: Shell is 75% Wool / 20% Nylon / 5% Cashmere. Lining is 100% viscose. Sleeve lining is 95% polyester, 5% spandex.
- Fit: I am wearing size 1 (US 4). The coat feels TTS to me, and with size 1, I was still able to comfortably layer a medium-weight sweater underneath.
For a coat that costs around $500, I loved that 80% of the shell material was wool/cashmere. Nowadays, you will find that cheaper wool coats are only around 50% wool, and the rest are blended with synthetics. (You can read more in my ‘Wool Coat Fabric Guide‘ post)
The lining fabric also feels super smooth, and for such a delicate material, I did not notice any issues with snagging or pilling. I also thought it was clever that the sleeves are lined with material that has stretch for ease of movement.
Quality of the Ted Baker Wool Wrap Coat
When I first unboxed my Rosess Coat, I knew by the weight of it that it was well-constructed. The shell fabric is thick and sturdy, and each piece is stitched together beautifully. Then there are other special details that confirm the quality:
- Gold Hardware: I loved that there are gold hardware ‘tabs’ on one collar, as well as along the belt edge. The exterior button is also gold, which makes the piece look expensive.
- Trims & Extra Details: This coat does not take any shortcuts when it comes to the little details. There is a magnetic closure if you wanted to flip the lapel up, and create a stand collar.
Long vs Short Coat
I debated between both the Rosess (short) and Roses (long) coat for a bit. You can’t go wrong with either, but the green option was only available in short. Since I already own a camel colored coat (HERE), I decided to change up my coat color scheme a bit. The color was as-pictured, but felt even more beautiful in person!
For reference, I am 5’6″ and their short coat hits mid-thigh for me. I did try their Roses coat in person, and while I thought their camel color was lovely, the length did not look as flattering on me (hits mid-calf). Other ladies have shared they love the coat though, so choose what works for your body!
As of 2023, Ted Baker also came out with another version of the coat called the Roseika. This coat looks to be the same length and fabric composition as the Roses, except it has a fuller ‘skirt.’ If you like a coat with more flare-volume towards the bottom, then this coat could be great for you!

Similar Ted Baker Styles
Although I love the Rosess coat for early winter, Ted Baker has this same silhouette in a trench coat style that is 97% cotton, and 3% spandex. While I have not tried on this style in-person before, I can imagine this coat to be a great alternative for the springtime.
Other Considerations Before You Buy the Ted Baker Coat
I first wore my Ted Baker coat out in December, and 30-degree + windchill weather had me wishing I wore out my puffer instead. While the Rosess Coat is certainly elegant, I think it works best as a coat for fall and early winter.
The collar also does not fold over like most classic wool coats do, but rather, has a ‘high neck’ shape.
All in all, I recommend this coat as an investment piece if it is on your list! I’ve linked this style from Bloomingdale’s because they run 25% off Friends & Family sales throughout the year. Hope you found this Ted Baker wool coat review helpful for your future purchase.
