In my latest discovery of the Demi Crop Boot, a new denim silhouette with a more subtle flare-out than the traditional boot cut, I learned that there is a world of flattering options beyond the skinny jeans. And it was about time! Like me, you might be wondering: Are skinny jeans out of style? While I don’t think they are out for good, I would agree that if they are the only silhouette you own, it may be time to try something new. This post is all about fashionable white jeans that I own and love. And I hope they will help to complete your wardrobe too.

It’s the denim cut that Gen Z’ers roll their eyes at, but this millennial here exclusively owned skinny jeans until 2021. Oops…So I transitioned a little too late, but I still find my pair of white skinny jeans to play a functional role in my wardrobe. For example, the more fitted appearance means that they go really well with looser fitting tops (like my slouchy sweaters, for example).

They also pair really well with boots that have a shaft, which is a big plus for me! For jeans with wider sleeves, you can’t really tuck them into boots. So even though people criticize skinny jeans as being outdated, I find that they maximize my outfit choices based on the shoes I may wear that day. Not to mention, they have a great leg-lengthening effect.
I love the pair I bought from Everlane, but their white color is hardly in-stock anymore. So here are some additional recommendations:
I explained in my previous blog post what is the ‘Demi Boot‘ and how it fares against its sibling ‘Boot Cut’ jeans. Overall, this one is a great hybrid between the skinny and boot cut jean. I love to break out this pair in the springtime, as the weather gets warmer. The cropped kick-out flare shows just a bit of ankle, and is super cute with sneakers, and sandals.

If you are evolving out of skinny jeans, this option might be the best one out there. These jeans have a more fitted top with a gradual flare-out towards the bottom.
I am ending this post with the last, and most voluminous option, which are the culottes! I saved this silhouette for last because it is the most drastic departure from skinny jeans. To be honest, it felt daunting to give these jeans a try for the first time!
But when I landed on the right pair (with the right shoes), they look very sophisticated! I loved reading Byrdie’s styling tips for the denim culotte. Pairing white denim culottes with light-colored ankle boots, or heels creates a leg-lengthening illusion. If you want to style them with flats, something with a pointy toe works too!

And finally, remember proportions. Given the wider leg of these pants, you might want to go for a top that has a fitted body for a neat look.
If you are looking to complete your denim wardrobe, these are the 3 fashionable white jeans I would recommend adding to your closet: the classic skinny, demi boot, and culotte!
Each cut has its advantages, and when styled correctly, make for a very gathered look. I hope these tips helped you generate some good outfit ideas for the rest of 2023. Happy New Year, everyone!
