This new year, I went back to a 5-day in-office schedule. With that, I’ve been eagerly experimenting with outfits that make getting dressed a breeze in the mornings. It’s always a balance between looking chic and staying warm and after trying a few different styles, I found that sweater pants meet all the criteria I was looking for. In this blog post, I round up all my favorite sweater pants for work that are so comfy that they made me ditch my denim!

Mango Straight Knitted Trousers
I found this pair while shopping in Amsterdam, and fell in love with the leg-lengthening style. It comes with a matching sweater (bottom right image), which makes a lovely set. I ended up not getting it, as the slightly off-the-shoulder look was tricky to style. As an alternative, you can style these pants with a lady cardigan or cropped jacket.
I am wearing a size S in these pants. They run small and long. My usual inseam is 29″ and could have hemmed these by ~1″. Since knitted fabrics are tricker to alter, I pair these with a heeled boots or kitten heels.

My go-to ‘sock’ bootie are the Corinda Boots (reviewed HERE).
J. Crew Sweater Pants
J. Crew is normally known for their cardigans (the Juliette Sweater Blazer, and Emilie Lady Jacket). But I am so glad they created sweater pants in a similar material! I stumbled upon two pant styles in stores, and would recommend these for work in a heartbeat.

- Delaney Kick Out Sweater Pants: Also comes in a patch pocket version. This pant comes in a smooth fine-knit, compressive material (viscose, polyester blend). As such, they hug the curves in a flattering way, without leaving any awkward lumps and gaps. I also loved the wide, secure elastic waistband. This pair runs small for me, and I am styling a size S. I paired these pants with the new Patch Pocket Cardigan, also linked below.

- Sailor Sweater Trouser: This pant comes in a Lyocell blend, and feels lighter and more drapey than the Delaney pant. I don’t love the front patch pockets, but the cut of these pants create a super elongating look. Choose this one if you love something less fitted. They did not carry S in the store, so I am wearing a size M for reference. I believe my correct size would have been an S, as reviews say this style runs small.
Uniqlo Machine Washable Ribbed Knit Sweater Pants
This pair is more casual than the two I shared above, so use your discretion on whether to style these sweater pants for work. What I love is how effortless, and versatile the color options are. These pants also come with a matching cardigan if you want to create a set. The fabric is a breathable rayon-blend that is also machine-washable and static-free. On colder days, it’s also very easy to layer Heattech tights underneath for extra warmth.
I like to pair these pants with a slouchy cardigan and fitted top underneath. These pants are a straighter cut, with an adjustable drawstring. I am wearing a size S, and did not need to size down.
NEIWAI Knitted Cashmere Culottes
The more luxe option out of all the pieces I reviewed so far, my NEIWAI cashmere culottes take warmth to the next level. I find this pair to look best-suited for at-home loungewear. However, I’ve also worn these pants outdoors and they are warm enough as standalone pants in 20 to 30-degree weather with a longer overcoat.
These culottes run small at the waist, so if you are in-between sizes, I found sizing up to be the better fit. Another consideration is that these pants have a lot of static cling. As such, I try wearing lower cut shoes that reduce fabric contact.
If you don’t love the amount of maintenance that cashmere requires, try this 100% cotton style from Gap (new and comes in Black and Beige).
I hope you enjoyed this round up of sweater pants for work that are warm, and chic!
