Summersalt Swimsuit Review: Flattering One-Pieces for All Body Shapes

Having swam competitively as a kid, I am partial to one-pieces. They feel secure, and I find them a lot easier to shop for. If you’re wondering whether conservative swimsuits that complement your figure, and look stylish exist, I am here to share: Yes they do! While I don’t go through swimsuits as much as I used to, I still find it important to purchases pieces that last. Given all the hype around Summersalt, I decided to give their style a try and share some of my honest thoughts in this unsponsored post.

Summersalt Tie-Oasis One Piece Swimsuit: Wearing size 4. This style seems like it comes back in-stock in the summer, whereas their Ruffle Oasis Swimsuit (similar) is offered year-round.

Summersalt Swimsuit Review

One of the brand’s biggest selling points is their size and fit accuracy. I purchased my swimsuit in a US 4, and it was true to size. You want to be careful not to buy a swimsuit that is too tight (and adds strain to the elastic), or too loose (and sags with the water weight). For best fit, I recommend sizing up. The swimsuit should feel snug when it is dry.

I am wearing their tie-oasis one-piece, which comes with adjustable self-tying straps. This striped swimsuit has since been replaced by a few other floral prints (linked below). In addition to being versatile, I found the bow-tie shoulders add a cute detail to this swimsuit. This fabric sucked me right in, so the fit feels as secure as they advertise on their website.

The mix of horizontal and vertical stripes also gives a slimming illusion. Watch my styling reel HERE.

Noteworthy Details on the Summersalt Tie Oasis One-Piece Swimsuit

  • Fabric: 78% recycled polyamide (nylon), 22% elastane – compressive fabric construction for a secure fit. I can feel the difference with my cheaper swimsuits.
  • Built-in padding and shelf bra: The padding is stitched in, but not removable. I don’t feel like this information is clear from the website, and would have loved if it were removable for a little more flexibility.
  • Full coverage, front and back but the leg opening is slightly higher than I expected. This makes the bottom feel slightly cheekier.
  • Rubberized edging along the square neckline to keep the built-in bra in place. I wish they had this feature along the swim bottom too, to prevent against ride-ups.
  • Front fabric is lined, but back is not.

Honest Thoughts: Summersalt Swimsuit Review

In terms of features I love about Summersalt swimsuits, they are fun and thoughtfully designed. For example, their one-pieces are created to be universally flattering. As such, they all come in a high-compression form-flattering fabric. According to their Fit Guide, their sizing is based off of 1.5 million body measurements from over 10,000 women!

Summersalt also has a few seasonal collaborations, so you will see iconic silhouettes in fun and limited edition prints.

Finally, I love that Summersalt promotes healthy and positive body image. Their styles are designed to work across different body shapes, and the size goes up to 24 (3X). I also appreciate the diversity in models of different sizes featured on their site. Some size and body inclusive options you can shop:

Areas for Improvement: Summersalt Swimsuit Review

Summersalt shares that their pieces are ‘designer quality’ at the best price. However, most of their swimsuits hover just above $100, which can still feel steep if you are new to the brand. For the price, I felt there were a few key features missing to justify the price:

  • Removable Padding: Their swimsuits come with a sewn-in shelf bra, but it would be nice to offer the flexibility of removable cups, whether you’d like to wear your swimsuit au naturale or with additional padding.
  • Double Lining: A lot of lower-priced swimsuits I’ve owned in the past are fully double-lined, which increases the longevity of your swimsuit So I was definitely surprised that only the bodice had a double lining. (Related Post: How to Take Care of Your Swimsuit)
  • Rubberized Edging: Instead of just having this feature along the neckline, I would have loved to see it along the bottom/back as well. It would add that extra layer of security from uncomfortable ride-ups, and wedgies.

Overall, I am a fan of Summersalt’s swimsuit designs and have received compliments on my Tie Oasis swimsuit. However, I hope the brand makes improvements for future designs. I also recommend keeping an eye out on their summer warehouse sale (which goes up to 30% off) because those cover a lot of their classic styles! This promotion usually happens in late June and runs until around July 4th.
