BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket Review: Perfect Spring Layer

With spring just around the corner, I wanted to review the BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket, a perfect layer for the season. I actually purchased it back in October, but the weather quickly turned too cold to get enough wears. Although I have seen so many fashion bloggers own this piece, it wasn’t until I purchased one that I understood why it is such a popular pick. In this BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket review, I share what I love (and didn’t), along with some fabric care tips for suede.

BLANKNYC SUEDE MOTO JACKET: WHAT I LOVED

THE COLOR

This closet staple comes in several gorgeous colors, and the hardest part was choosing which one I wanted. I decided to go with a more neutral shade: French Taupe. You might see this color as a light ‘brown’ on the website. However, it definitely looks more ‘grey’ in-person. (I also wore it in this old post) First one below is ‘French Taupe,’ but I linked several other colors as well.

THE PRICE

The BlankNYC Suede Moto Jacket is just under $200, and while it is not ‘cheap,’ I think the price point is extremely reasonable for real leather. I bought mine on Bloomingdales during a Friends & Family sale, so I actually scored it with a $50 discount. Definitely keep an eye out for department store sales!

THE DESIGN

This suede jacket looks feminine and edgy at the same time, and I love the hardware details that come with it. It also falls right around the waist for a slightly cropped figure. If you are looking for a jacket that is a little longer, this one might not be it for you.

If you want to try other similar styles from the brand, here are a few more that look stylish.

WHAT I DIDN’T LOVE ABOUT MY BLANKNYC JACKET

THE ZIPPERS & POCKETS

Honestly, this piece was probably the most troublesome for me. The zipper did not glide very smoothly. Since this jacket is a shorter length, the pockets are way too high up, so they are not designed for you to put your hands inside either. All in all, the zippers and pockets both feel like a decorative feature rather than a functional one.

THE SIZING

The BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket runs really small. I bought S, like I normally do for jackets. However, for this one, I find that I can only layer a thin top or sweater underneath. Anything heavier would feel too tight. I guess that makes sense since the jacket is meant to be a lighter layer though, but I would recommend that if you are in between 2 sizes, pick the larger one!

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SUEDE JACKET

I love suede because it gives such a soft and beautiful texture. However, the material is definitely not easy to take care of. I often feel nervous to damage or dirty my jacket because you cannot just plop it into the washing machine. However, below are some tips I follow to make sure mine lasts.
