Latest Aerie Finds: Comfy Flared Leggings + Seamless Bra

Aerie’s OFFLINE Leggings are the holy grail of comfort. They are designed for both active and everyday wear at an accessible price point. This year, they came out with the High Waisted Crossover Flared Leggings and I am so in love, I bought them in two different colors. I wanted to share my review of these comfy flared leggings, as well as their new SMOOTHEZ line.

I am much more used to wearing fitted leggings (worn in OLD POST). However, I was ready for a change when I saw flared and split-hem leggings start to go in-style this year. And these flared leggings did not disappoint!

  • Fabric: Nylon / spandex. Very lightweight. These pants look small at first but they stretch a lot. I ordered a size S (my usual size), and they fit just right. Because the fabric is a lot thinner, they are also not as warm as the other OFFLINE leggings I own.

  • Design: Very flattering, and slimming. I love the crossover waistband, and it looks cute with a longline sports bra. Fitted at the top, with a gradual flare-out towards the bottom.
  • Other Notes: I checked myself in both the Burgundy and Black color, and these leggings (as far as I can tell) are squat-proof.
  • Care Tips: The seams are fragile. After washing mine for the first time, I noticed the side seams on one pair snagged. I highly recommend turning these inside-out in the washer, placing them in a delicates bag, and air-drying them afterwards.

Can you wear flared leggings to exercise?

One debate I had over buying the new OFFLINE leggings was how well they would work for exercise. I regularly attend barre classes, and wore them for a full week to test them out. There were really no issues at all! That said, barre is a more stationary exercise than other cardio or running-heavy routines.

I can see why it might be annoying if the pants sleeves were flapping around if you were running. Thankfully, they created fitted versions of the style too.

Another things to note is that compared to my more sophisticated Athleta leggings, these don’t have any pockets. But the bottom line is: I found that flared leggings are perfectly fine for exercises with sustained movements (e.g. yoga, barre, pilates).

Otherwise, wear your comfy flared leggings out as a normal casual outfit. You will receive compliments 🙂

Other Aerie Finds: SMOOTHEZ Line

One thing I have always loved about Aerie is their commitment to body positivity and genuine marketing. I saw their new SMOOTHEZ ‘anti-shapewear’ line in the store, and was destined to give it a try. The whole purpose of this collection is to de-stigmatize shapewear, and make it more comfortable (e.g. no more digging into your skin, or squeezing your waist).

Each piece feels like a second skin, and is made with a lightweight microfiber material. I purchased their padded bralette, and plan to get more!
