Quince has become my go-to for quality basics in the past few years. I love that the brand has expanded their fabrics into new styles too. Cotton poplin is one of my favorite materials for the spring and summertime. Having tried a diverse range of pieces from the brand, I am excited to finally put together a complete Quince cotton poplin review ranging from dresses to skirts.

Reasons to Choose Cotton Poplin in the Summertime
As a textile scientist and fabric evangelist, I recommend cotton poplin a lot! It’s a plain-weave fabric made with cotton threads that are densely woven together, giving it a very smooth and crisp finish. When it’s hot outside, the last thing you want is a clingy, suffocating material. Poplin solves for that by allowing for comfort and aesthetics!
Quince Organic Poplin Maxi Skirt Review
If you are craving a versatile bottom with maximum breathability, I really enjoy their Cotton Poplin Tiered Maxi Skirt. It comes with side pockets, subtle volume, and 3 tiers with subtle horizontal pleats. This skirt has a pull-on smocked waistband that feels secure. I recommend sizing down. As the reviews say, this skirt runs a big, and with the fabric weight, you may feel it dragging down if it’s loose. I am wearing a size XS here, and it fits best when I tuck my top underneath it.
I like pairing it with this machine-washable sweater tank, which is a great affordable basic. This skirt also comes in an A-Line Version as well as this beautiful Pintucked version that comes with an eyelet hem.

Quince Organic Cotton Ruched Poplin Dress
Adding to my Quince cotton poplin review is this ruched dress. The fabric is consistent quality to Quince’s other poplin pieces, and a decent weight so it’s not see-through. I found the puff sleeves to add just the right amount of volume. The bodice ran big on me, and I had to size down to XS for a better fit.
Overall, I think this ruched dress makes a great summer piece. But if you’re looking for more color and print diversity, I’d recommend trying the Emerson Dress from Abercrombie which looks similar and has more seasonal styles.

Poplin Drop Waist Shirt Dress
Of all the pieces I tried, the drop waist shirt dress was one I took a fashion risk on. And to my surprise, I loved how much classier it looked in-person. I ordered this one in an XS, and it was the perfect fit across the shoulders. One thing to note is this dress comes with a half-button placket, so it takes a little more effort to take on/off. The fluted ruffles at the bottom add a nice feminine touch.
I also found the length office-appropriate, which adds to the versatility.
Quince Sleeveless Poplin Smocked Dress
If you’re looking for a simple sleeveless dress with subtle feminine details, their poplin smocked dress is another great option. As of 2025, this style is only available in the midi length. I find this design to be a great alternative to the Hillhouse Nap Dress, and am pleased that they have expanded beyond neutral colors.
Although I am wearing an XS here, I could have sized up to a S for a more comfortable fit as it runs small in the bodice. Unlike the ruched dress, this one doesn’t come with pockets. I am 5’6″ and styling the mini dress here. But if you’re nervous about fly-aways, then the midi version may feel safer.

I hope you found this Quince cotton poplin review helpful! I really love this fabric, and these are some of my favorite pieces from their collection.
