I’ve always admired the fitted, sleek look of the Everlane Glove Boot. They also come in the classic goes-with-everything colors, but after checking out these shoes in-person, I found the outer sole to be much too hard and slippery for NYC winters. I spent the winter searching, and trialing different pairs until I landed on one (two actually) I really loved. They are affordable too! Keep reading to see the winner on my hunt for the best stretch knit boots!

Why the Materials of Our Outsole Matter
One theory I’ve always held is that the comfort of our shoes differ based on the temperature outside. I validated this theory against articles written on the subject, and it turns out there is some credence to it! Materials get stiffer in colder temperature, and with the amount of walking I do, it’s important to find something with a shock-absorbing outsole.
Nowadays, I look for boots with a cushioned outsole made with PU (polyurethane) or EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate).
My Favorite Under $100 Stretch Knit Boots
If you’re looking for that ‘one’ pair of black booties for your capsule wardrobe, let this pair be it. Aerosoles is one of those brands that is having its resurgence, and I am loving their collection of well-made, affordable footwear. Their Corinda boot is perfect from a material, design, and comfort standpoint, and comes in a taller alternative also. I am styling their ‘Black Gabardine’ material here.

- Fit: True to Size. Stretch allows some flexibility for different feet widths, and goes up to the shaft.
- Material Highlights: Form-fitting stretch material that glides on and off so smoothly. These boots are lightweight, and comfortable for walking 1-2 miles/day in.

I even did a side-by-side against the Everlane ReKnit Glove boots, so you can see the difference.
- Everlane ReKnit Glove Boots: Has a more prominent ribbed texture, and 2″ heel height. Hard outsole material, and less cushioned insole. No traction, slippery.
- Aerosoles Corinda Boots: Sleek, form-fitting stretch material that doesn’t feel too constraining. Foam insole, and flexible outsole make walking comfortable. Has a slightly higher heel height (2.2″).

Knee-High Stretch Knit Boots: My Runner Up
After falling in love with my first pair of Aerosoles boots, I decided to try another style that caught my eye: the Angela boot in faux suede. I’ve been patiently waiting for a pair of suede chocolate boots, and love the wedged style of these.

The outsole is made with the same cushion-y material (TPU), and the wedge adds stability to the heeled design.
- Fit: True to size, but calf runs narrow. I am wearing their regular width here, and found the fit to be loose around the ankles but tight around the calves.
- Material Highlights: Faux suede stretch material with a 2.5″ heel height, and soft outsole. I have worn this pair to the office, and had no issues with comfort from walking 1-2 miles/day.
Pants & Outfits that Go with Stretch Knit Booties
If you’re looking for comfy, and dressier boot options, stretch knit booties are truly the versatile pair that goes with so many outfit combinations. The Corinda boot is fitted enough to go under wider-cut pants, but also stretchy enough to fit over skinnier leg pants. I also love how it looks over tights and a dress!
